However, as the bolt diameter increases, the flange it’s designed to support becomes more prone to bending—a problem that can’t be easily resolved. The only viable solution is to reinforce the flange by increasing its wall thickness. As a result, the entire assembly ends up being significantly bulkier and heavier, which poses a particular challenge in offshore environments, where weight remains one of the primary concerns that engineers simply cannot afford to overlook. Moreover, fundamentally speaking, flat-welded flanges are inherently an inefficient sealing solution. They force 50% of the bolt load into compressing the gasket, leaving only the remaining 50% available to actually maintain the system’s internal pressure.

1: To facilitate product management at the anti-corrosion plant and ensure convenient on-site application by construction units, all internally coated steel pipes must have a clear and visible qualification mark or label affixed to their outer surfaces after passing inspection.
